great site, much useful information that explains a lot, it's because He's a Beagle! Would be nice to see a bit more about certain quirks of the breed if possible? I don't mean undesirable genetic problem, just 'quirks', you know?
We've recently been blessed with a new addition to our family, Jasper, a 14 month old Beagle. "We have a Beagle in the family!" is the standard response for us now whenever we're asked "how are you?"
He's definitely a People Puppy, & I guess he'll never quite grow out of being a puppy either, no matter how old he gets & that's just fine with us. Our Jasper is a great many things to us aside from just being the newest addition to our family, he's my excercise routine & anti-depressant! He's my childrens friend & playmate, He's the mischievous little destructo-demolisher I have to laugh over as I tidy up the latest whatever-it-was-we-left-where he could get it, he's the adorable Bark-&-sniff of any & all who approach us, he's the early morning alarm-dog that wakes us all to go outside at stOOpid o'clock! He's the snooze signaller for bedtime too (it was never so easy to get my kids to go to bed on time as it is now that Jasper just lays down & sleeps regularly at 8:30pm!)& so much more.
We LOVE Jasper! & I think he shows us everyday that he loves us too!

Hi, its me again! Our dog , Maisi, is approx 18mths old. She has always loved going for walks but over the past few weeks (or even longer) she is very reluctant. She willingly comes over to have her lead attached but when we get out the front she plants her paws and doesnt want to move.
Any helpful comments?

Hi fellow Beagles Lovers,
We currently have 2 female Beagles Zoe & Jessie (have had another previously that lived to the ripe old age of 14, Cassie and we still miss her).
Cassie and Zoe were from 2 wonderful people, Bev & Don James who have become friends over the years. Jessie we adopted from a lady who had a heart condition and was not able to look after her anymore. Jessie has become the dominant dog as Zoe is very quiet. They are both loving dogs and I would recommend Beagles to any Family. Just make sure that you check out your breeders and the dogs dispositions. Apart from the usual "naughtiness" digging holes, chewing on timber decks and stealing one anothers food, they are just the most wonderful dogs.Hi to Don & Bev if you read this. Having trouble getting through to your email, so phoned you today and left a message. 30.8.11

We bought our Beagle from a Pet Stoe when he was 10 weeks old . Not sure if we did the right thing as when I asked if the Beagle came with papers I was told I would get papers of his 3 generations, which sounded all legit. The only papers I got afrer paying $950 for him, state that he was from a Breeder in Penrith (no name) and that he had been vaccinated at 8 weeks. He was 10 weeks old when I purchased him.
It bothers me that I don't know his past hisorty (family). He is a very anxious dog, he seems very smart, we have taken him to puppy school where he learned the basic sit and let's go commands. He will not come when we ask him to, so he is incredibly stubborn, so I am afraid if he ever gets off his leash when I take him for a work because he would probably just run away. He chews his leashes so I need to replace them regularly and I have tried hard to correct him each time his mouth touches the leash, but as I said he is stubborn! He cannot be let loose inside as he destroys everything, right down to chewing the furniture. I know you will say we have not trained him properly, but let me tell you I correct him each time over and over at the time of the crime, but he is just too naughty. I feel that maybe I am not a good Beagle owner but I do love him and keep percervering. Every person who owns a dog that I know tell me how perfect their dogs are, espcially if it is a labrador, so I wonder if I have made a mistake getting a Beagle.

We have our first beagle puppy! He is beautiful but imperfect with a umbilical hernea. Then we found out that the breeder is a farmer, disgusting. I went to my first dog show at Tumbarumba just to look around and met the most unfriendly, snobby nosed beagle breeder, I couldn't believe it! If one wants to promote good breeding and a loving community, that isnt the way. Anyhow, i love beagles and want to get a playmate eventually for ours. Who knows we might show one day.

sleeps most of the day and nite and i think that he believes that he is a "real boy"

anyways...any free information about beagles, would be great.

Hi, great website. My family has our 3rd Beagle Inca. My sister has her 1st Zara. They are a wonderful breed for young children to be brought up with due to their mostly plased nature. But ive noticed they never have their nose of the ground.
