Early Beagles

In early 1960, Dot and Snow Stopford, who were exhibiting Cocker Spaniels and Basset Hounds at the time decided their Grandchildren Sue and David should have a puppy.

 After a great deal of thought a male beagle, Belview Blueman, was purchased from Tom and Nell Longmuir of Belview Beagles in NSW.

It was decided to show Blueman as Dot and Snow were very keen for us to become interested in the Dog World.

6 months later Dot purchased Belview Daisy for us and she was to become the foundation of Nangunyah Beagles. Both Daisy and Blueman attained their titles at an early age and Daisy has the distinction of being awarded Best In Parade at the First Beagle Club of NSW Parade.

The prefix Nangunyah was chosen as it was the name of the hotel in St Kilda Road, Melbourne that Betty and he husband Bob stayed on their Honeymoon. It means "happy home of many dogs".

In 1963 Dot and Snow who were also taken by the breed imported  Rossut Gambler from the UK and when mated to Daisy produced the first and second Champions with the Nangunyah prefix

Ch Nangunyah Bettina

Daisy And Amber

Amber who stayed at Nangunyah produced a number of litters including Ch Nangunyah Eager.

In 1965 Dot and Snow imported the lovely UK Ch Rossut Treetops Hasty Footsteps. Mated to Gambler she gave gave us Ch Russford Grey Ghost who when mated to Ch Lees Pennon (Imp UK) gave us Ch Nangunyah Gaily another influential beagle at Nangunyah and dam of;
