The Beagle Club’s Christmas Party

Around 45 Club members and accompanying beagles attended the Christmas Party gathering, held at Fagan’s Park Galston. Fagan Park is an interesting place; it was once belonged to Mr. John Fagan, a local farmer. On his passing, the property was bequeathed to the local council, which turned the park into an excellent venue for a lazy Sunday, just walking or having a BBQ with family and friends. The club met at one of the sheltered BBQ facilities where an excellent lunch of chicken, salads and cold drinks was served. Thanks must go to the Committee members who provided all the food and who worked very hard to make the day a success.

It was great to see so many happy beagle owners chatting, and admiring the beagle hounds. Many passers-by stopped to have a friendly chat and give admiring glances and above all:give our pride and joys a well-deserved pat. On the whole the beagles behaved in an exemplary manner. Santas (AKA Nerelle, Bev and Don) dressed in appropriate attire were on hand, to give out treats to everyone and everybeagle.

After the lunch the walk was a pleasant one, along winding tracks, through stands of turpentines and gum trees. One or more of our beagles managed to take in a swim in the pond, chasing the ducks. Along the way, there were even more adoring pats and admiring glances from people enjoying the great Australian outdoors.

Three "Sniffing Around Sydney" awards, [in the form of a colourful sash] were awarded on the day so congratulations to those recipients.

I am sure that the 2007 Sniffing Around Calendar will be as exciting as the one for 2006 and our walks co-ordinator, John New is to be applauded for a job well done.
